Doraville to Host Business Meeting

The Doraville City Council has called a Special Called Meeting for Tuesday, January 12th. According to the ciy's website: A special called meeting of the Council will be held in order for the Council to field concerns from the business community. All interested businesses are encouraged to attend. A sign in sheet will be provided for those who intend to speak. A three hour limit will be set and all participants who wish to speak will be heard. Additionally, there will be forms available for written concerns.

This should be interesting. As a casual observer, my initial reaction is that business owners are upset that the city is finally enforcing the ordinances that are on the books. Perhaps there are other issues at hand and if so, we will be sure to get them posted here as soon as we hear them.

The meeting will be held at the Civic Center starting at 6:00 p.m.

I hope the businesses give them a run for their money. The businesses pay a lot of tax in the city and they should be treated fairly and it appears that they are not and they maybe are being selective enforced against.

I thought this initial forum went well. The Businesses spoke and the mayor and council listened. I believe there were specific issues identified and that there is improvement in our process needed. "Timely and Friendly" should be our city administration motto and I believe that our city staff can and will execute in that manner. I really appreciated John Moon of the Korean Business Association speaking to the fact that the Korean wholesalers are very much understanding that they must be more open, speak English and participate in the city as good corporate citizens. I hope the other associations in town adopt a similar stance. They have been absent until recently.
I also think this type of fourm could work with residents and forgo comments at council meetings in order to get more business accomplished.
    Great work.
    See you in the neighborhoods!
