Chamblee Noise

Over the last several months several Northwoods residents have been complaining about noise coming from the Chamblee Flea Market at Buford Highway and Chamblee Tucker.

I don't know that there is anything Doraville officials can do, since it is not in our jurisdiction. Perhaps Northwoods residents could get a petition together and present it to the Chamblee City Council during a council meeting?

Perhaps that would encourage a meeting with Chamblee Councilmembers and let them "hear" for themselves the noise and work on a compromise?

I did suggest that at a minimum Chamblee request that the speakers be turned so they don't face Doraville, aim them towards PDK. Not sure that is enforcable though.

Anyone else have suggestions on tactics to address this quality of life issue?

  1. I have been in touch with Chamblee City Councilman Mark Wedge several times. He is willing to come out and investigate this problem for himself if he is notified. I previously provided his phone number to citizens and council members.

Apparently that noise wasn't the flea market now but a religious congregation going by posts to the NNA mailing list. Personally I think this is blown out of proportion. You live in the city, you get noise. Going by previous posts this noise was within normal levels and the annoyance seems to stem from a fixation on that source.

I live on Bonnie Avenue and I've heard the noise as well. And the noise is coming from the Church on Strait Street which is very near Raymond and Autumn Drive. I think they have outdoor festivals on some(WARMER!!)weekends.

For me, the noise really hasn't been annoying, but it is pronounced. I would imagine the homes really near the church could have a problem with it.

So the first step has been taken, which is the source has been identified. The second step would be, has the church been notified that some neighbors have a problem with the noise? If so, what happened?? If the noise kept up someone needs to find out if they have violated an ordinance. If they have, they should be held accountable. Some parts of the neighborhood are more affected by the noise than others and if someone doesn't like the noise, then there is a justifiable problem.
